MPPDA Bulletin January 2016

newsletter

Happy New Year from the MPPDA Executive Committee!

We hope that you all enjoyed a nice break from the action over the holiday and are re-energized for the last leg of interview season.  As program directors, the end of interview season might be a good time to re-connect with your residents to celebrate a job well-done for all of their recruiting efforts.  January and February can be a time of higher burnout and exhaustion and taking time to connect with each other can certainly help with morale.  We would personally love to hear some of the things you and your programs do to reconnect with each other during the long winter months.  Please feel free to comment below or to email us at [email protected].

MPPDA NATIONAL MEETING

Speaking of reconnecting, we are looking forward to seeing everyone at our national meeting on April 20th and 21st in Las Vegas. Please click this link to view the preliminary 2016 MPPDA Meeting Agenda.  The speakers, dates and times listed have been confirmed, but still may be subject to slight change.  Please follow this link to register for the meeting:  APDIM/MPPDA 2016.  This is the link to the Mirage Hotel.  We will be accepting poster submissions for the meeting as well as soliciting questions for the ACGME, ABIM, and ABP members at the end of January.  We will be notifying you of the date and format of submission via the email listserv shortly.

PROGRAM DIRECTORS’ SURVEY

The MPPDA Research Committee is putting the finishing touches on the Annual MPPDA Program Director’s Survey and it will be sent out via the email listserv very shortly.  Thank you for your patience.  Please make every effort to complete the survey in a timely manner.  We would like to have a very high response rate in order to best characterize our specialty and aid with the publication of results.  The survey itself looks very good and should not take long to complete this year.

MED-PEDS GRADUATE DENOMINATOR PROJECT

As interview season starts to wind down, a member of the MPPDA Executive Committee will be contacting you to check in briefly.  This is similar to our SWOT analysis calls from last year.  We would like to touch base briefly with each of you for suggestions and feedback, as well as to monitor progress with the Denominator Project that we are using to track graduates of all Med-Peds program graduates.  If your program administrator would like assistance, please email Mark DeVany.

MPPDA ELECTIONS

Also, elections for the 2016 MPPDA Executive Committee will be held shortly.  Please watch for an email announcement from AAIM before the end of the month.

Good luck with the rest of interview season, and please let us know what we can do to better serve you.

Best,
Russ Kolarik and Sandi Moutsios
On behalf of the MPPDA Executive Committee
