The MPPDA Accreditation Committee is an invaluable resource for helping our members to keep informed of the latest requirements from the ACGME, the American Board of Pediatrics, and the American Board of Internal Medicine.  Being a combined specialty, Med-Peds training can sometimes present unique challenges to the accreditation bodies as new requirements unfold.  A primary mission of the Accreditation Committee is to communicate openly with these organizations and the Residency Review Committees for Internal Medicine and Pediatrics to raise awareness of how new requirements may impact Med-Peds training.  The Accreditation Committee is also a vital resource for transmitting new guidelines and clarifying existing requirements for our members.

Within the  MPPDA, the Accreditation Committee is charged with each of the following:

  1. Assuring that data related to common Med-Peds Citations from the ACGME are accessible to membership on the MPPDA website
  2. Providing input to the MPPDA Executive Committee on pertinent topics for the question and answer session with the RRC and boards at our annual meeting.
  3. Preparing and presenting quarterly reports to the MPPDA Executive Committee including strategies for meeting objectives not currently met.
  4. Establishing relations between the ACGME and the Committee Chair for the purpose of MPPDA advocacy.
  5. Developing communication strategies among PDs regarding the New Accreditation System (NAS) and communicating the impact of institutional CLER visits on Med-Peds training programs.
  6. Develop informational resources and/or “Best Practices” for the programs on addressing the Common Requirements.
  7. Attending the Accreditation Committee Meeting as part of the annual National MPPDA Meeting.
